Sayville Wrestling Falls to Kings Park (#18 NYS), 40-28

Golden Flashes unable to continue Union Endicott momentum.

After a strong showing at the Union Endicott NYS Dual Meet Championships, the Sayville wrestling team was upset by Kings Park Tuesday, 40-28, in a match that was rescheduled from Jan. 7 due to inclement weather.

The Golden Flashes dominated most of the lower weight classes, as they got a major decision victory from Matt Leshinger (112 lbs.) and a pin by emerging star Justin Bonamico (130 lbs.), but were beaten eight of the 14 weight classes overall.

Kings Park scored 18 points from three pins in the heavyweight classes at 189, 215 and 285 that turned the match in their favor.

Russell Manuello also won in overtime at 145, 3-2.

Steven Leshinger continued his successful recovery from a number of nagging injuries earlier this season. He earned a technical victory at 152 lbs. Rich Millwater followed the team captain with a pin, as he's done so many times this year. But it wasn't enough to get past the Kingsmen.
