Kings Park edged Sayville, 27-24, in an exciting League V dual meet before a boisterous crowd at Sayville HS.
The dual started at 119 pounds with Sayville's Mike Payne posting a 14-8 decision, followed by Justin Bonamico with a 7-5 verdict. The Golden Flashes would reeled off four consecutive victories and were paced by two-time county finalist Travis Pitre (14-3), as he used a tight bar arm to record a first period pin, followed by decisions by junior Steven Leshinger (16-6) at 140 and Zack Cone (145). Senior Josef Haas (20-5) applied a tight spiral half and flattened his opponent at the 2:17 mark in their 152-pound bout and gave the host team a comfortable 24-4 lead.
Kings Park started their comeback as Greg Bienenstein (14-6) scored with a single leg takedown and emerged with an 8-6 overtime victory at 160 pounds. In a pivotal bout of the dual, the Kingsmen's Greg Martin and Sayville's Christian Nelson had traded escapes and in the overtime stanza Martin scored with a double leg takedown for a 3-1 overtime win at 215, and closed the gap to 24-19.
State bronze medalist Max Soria (19-1) opened the scoring with a slick duck under en route to a 10-0 major decision at 103, and brought the score to 24-23. Defending state champion, twin brother Mike (16-0), used a low single takedown and bar arm to register a solid 8-0 decision at 112 and sealed the victory for his team.

First year coach Clark Crespi and able assistant Jack Magnani have guided Kings Park with two key dual meet victories this past week over Huntington and Sayville. The Soria twins, now seniors, will both compete in the 103-pound class in the upcoming tournaments.The Kingsmen won the last six matches of the dual meet tonight including two exciting overtime decisions. Next up for Sayville is rival Islip on Friday, January 15th at 6:30 PM at Islip HS.
