New York State Schoolboy State Championships – Freestyle & Greco Roman
8th Grader, Matt Leshinger is crowned Schoolboy State Champion to pace Sayville WC with 7 Top 3 Medals.
Sayville WC netted an astounding 7 top 3 place finishers in the tournament. The event was attended by the best Schoolboy Wrestlers from all over New York State with no other team  amassing these unbelievable results.  The future of Sayville Wrestling is amazingly bright.

Among potentially others from the WC, Matt Leshinger was selected to represent Team NY in the National Schoolboy Dual Meet Championships to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, 6/17 thru 6/21.
Each of these wrestlers are  also registered to compete in the Northeast Kids & Cadet Regional Championships at Broom County Community College in Binghamton, NY, to be held on 5/30 & 5/31. They also qualified to compete in the National Individual Schoolboy Championships in Orem, Utah, 6/29 thru 7/1.

Sayville WC Mat Notes: Travis Pitre (Sayville, Class of 2010) & Andy Rodriguez (Formerly of Sayville & CI, Class of 2010) competed in the Schoolboy Duals in 2006. Travis is a 2 X Section XI Finalist and the all time wins leader in Sayville, HS history. Andy finished an amazing 16-0 during the event, where he was named a 1st Team All Tournament selection. Rodriguez later captured a Schoolboy National Championship at 120# in Green Bay, Wisconsin in June of 2006. (Andy was the 2009, HS, NYS Champion at 140#)
